Abstract


Objective: It is well known that the most effective and successful oral health program would be incremental and continuous oral health care periodically for individual dental patients. In this study, about 30 senile subjects were selected for a 4-year pilot study of the home visiting oral health program, at Chilgok county.

Methods: The subjects were elderly patients included in the home visiting oral health program during the period from 2010 to 2013 in Chilgok county. Total subjects including 6 males and 24 females were investigated for their oral status every year. The questionnaire survey consisted of ability in everyday life, observable symptoms and management ability, toothbrushing frequency, proper method action plan, denture application and management, usage of oral hygiene products.

Results: There was no significantly difference in caries state otherwise some changes in periodontal state as decreasing the bleeding index as increased the number of none bleeding, and decreased patient hygiene performance index and oral malodor for 3-year program. The home visiting oral health program could contribute to promoting the oral health and malodor control among elderly subjects (p£¼0.05).

Conclusion: Therefore, the home visiting health program for promoting community oral health should include a comprehensive public health program for the community.
